[Animal modeling] - Study on the control and optimization of rat oral ulcer animal model by chemical burning method

Objective: To establish an animal model of oral ulcer in SD rats by different chemical burning methods and screen the best scheme for the evaluation of therapeutic effect

Methods: 50 SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups. Ulcer models were established by using different concentrations of glacial acetic acid or NaOH crystals on the labial mucosa and buccal mucosa of the alveolar bone of the lower incisors; Second burning group: 50% glacial acetic acid was used to establish the ulcer model again at the original site after the healing of alveolar bone lip mucosal ulcer. The mucosal state, ulcer occurrence rate, healing time and histopathological changes were observed

Results: The 50% concentration of glacial acetic acid in the labial mucosa of alveolar bone group had a high incidence of ulcers. The morphology was regular and easy to observe. The average healing time and histological characteristics were close to those of human beings, and were superior to other groups in a comprehensive way. The secondary burning group was not easy to form ulcers

Conclusion: 50% glacial acetic acid treatment of alveolar bone lip mucosa can obtain a better oral ulcer model, which can be used as an ideal model for studying ulcer treatment methods. The same part is not suitable for establishing ulcer model again
