[Animal modeling] - Research progress on animal models of adult growth hormone deficiency and bone metabolism

Objective: To explore several methods of establishing animal models of adult growth hormone deficiency, and provide a good model for experimental research and treatment of abnormal bone metabolism caused by growth hormone deficiency.

Methods: The methods of establishing animal models of adult growth hormone deficiency were reviewed and evaluated through literature review.

Results: The animal models of adult growth hormone deficiency can be divided into three types: spontaneous growth hormone deficiency model, pituitary resection model and gene knockout model.

Conclusion: The animal model of hypophysectomy is cheap and operable, but it is not suitable for the study of the relationship between growth hormone and bone metabolism; The animal models of spontaneous growth hormone deficiency and gene knockout are expensive, but they lack growth hormone specifically, which is conducive to the study of the effect of growth hormone deficiency on bone metabolism.
