Objective: To observe the effect of calcium phosphate cement (CPC) and lithium chloride composite calcium phosphate cement (Li/CPC) on fracture healing in SD rats.
Methods: Twenty 6-month-old SD female rats were taken to establish Li/CPC experimental group (n = 10) and CPC control group (n = 10). Bilateral tibial bone defect filling surgery was performed once and 2 months after surgery , 5 rats in each group were sacrificed, and tibia specimens were taken for comparative analysis for Micro-CT (Micro-CT) detection and HE staining of histological cross-sections.
Results: Through micro-CT scan, the bone defect repair effect of Li/CPC group is better than that of CPC group. The new bone volume fraction (BV/TV) around the material of Li/CPC group is CPC. Trabecular bone spacing (Tb).Sp) is higher than this group, the difference is statistically significant (P\u003c0.05). Histological HE staining showed that the Li/CPC group had fibrous bone and osteoid bone call in the early stage, and the CPC group had a high number and bone healing quality.
Conclusion: Li/CPC has good bone conduction properties and can significantly accelerate the repair of bone defects.
